A new tutoring company expanding into New Jersey is seeking high school tutors to hire to help younger students.
The company will be hiring and training tutors throughout August to begin offering services in Somerset County on Sept. 1.
"There is no set number of tutors we will be hiring per town," Peter Traub, co-founder of PeerGenius Tutors, said. "We will hire many qualified tutors and there are numerous tutoring jobs with PeerGenius available."

Hiring students as tutors is part of the company’s growth strategy to create flexible, above minimum wage jobs for young people who help their peers.
“We have numerous jobs available for teens who are strong overall students and also students who excel in a particular subject area,” Traub said. “It’s real work experience and looks great on college applications.”

“We are excited to bring the private peer tutoring model to Somerset County,” Enid Traub, also a co-founder, said.
The company will provide training for the tutors, Peter Traub said, and sessions are supervised.
"There is no cost for training and tutors are paid for completing training," he added. "Training involves how to work with different aged students, different learning styles and different subjects."Traub said the tutors will be matched with students using the company's "GeniusMatch" system which aims to match tutors and students based on such criteria as subject material, personality and interests outside of school.
"GeniusMatch ensures the tutor and student will have a strong relationship which improves the learning process and the retention of the material," he said. "Students always enjoy working with PeerGenius Tutors because of the matching process and GeniusMatch."
Additional information, as well as application forms for tutors, can be found on the company website.
