From arsenic in clothing, blazing crinolines, and lead in cosmetics, throughout history we have worn deadly clothing and makeup to be the height of fashion even if it kills us. Dana Bala will discuss some of the most lethal fashion practices in history, focusing on Victorian and Edwardian periods, when people were “dressed to kill.” Dressed in 19th century clothing while giving the folk arts presentation, Dana’s presentation is hands on, bringing many newspaper and magazine articles to pass around during the presentation.
Please Note : Social distancing rules apply. Masks required. Hand sanitizer and wipes provided.
