Adventure Aquarium In Camden Reopens To Public With Restrictions

The aquarium has been closed for four months to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

CAMDEN, NJ — The Adventure Aquarium in Camden reopened to the public on Friday at limited capacity amid the coronavirus pandemic. The aquarium has been closed for four months to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

“Mo and I are excited to get back to exploring life underwater and creating memories worth repeating with you,” Adventure Aquarium Executive Director Vince Nicoletti said in a vide announcing the reopening. “We’ve missed you, and we know that time together in a special place means more now than ever.”

Nicoletti appeared in the video with Mo, a baby two-toed sloth that was recently born at the aquarium. Mo, short for Molasses, was born in December, and Honey was born in November.

“Your visit also means more now than ever since your paid admission helps us to continue providing exceptional care for Mo and all of our other animals here at Adventure Aquarium,” Nicoletti said. “The health and safety of our guests, employees and animals has remained our top priority and guides every decision we make.”

Visitors to the aquarium will have a chance to see all the underwater creatures while adhering to social distancing and health guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) amid the pandemic.

This includes required face covering for all visitors 3-years-old and older, with some exceptions. The aquarium’s employees will also be wearing face masks.

Physically distanced queues, marked barriers and social distancing reminders have also been put in place. Areas where social distancing can’t be achieved will be temporarily closed including the 3D Theater, play areas and animal encounters.

Entry will be limited and everyone will have their temperature checked before entering. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or higher and anyone traveling in the same vehicle with them will not be able to enter.

Member Reservations are required for a specific visit date and entry time. Daily tickets will also be date and time-based.

The Flying Fish Beer Garden, café and Penguin Park will have food options available for outdoor dining only.

The aquarium has implemented additional sanitation measures, including the frequent cleaning of high touch point areas and additional hand sanitizing locations.
