Burlington County Under Code Blue Amid Warnings Of Winter Storm

A Code Blue will take effect overnight in Burlington County amid warnings of a winter storm that threatens to hit the region.

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — A Code Blue Weather Alert is in effect for Burlington County overnight as the region braces for a blast of wintry weather, county officials announced Monday morning.

The Code Blue will be in effect from 7 p.m. Monday night until 7 a.m. Tuesday morning. Officials will then review and assess upcoming weather forecasts.

“A Code Blue declaration is made in Burlington County when winter conditions pose a threat of serious harm or death to individuals without shelter,” Burlington County Freeholder Director Tom Pullion said. “When a Code Blue is enacted, it provides for short-term emergency sheltering.”

“During a Code Blue declaration, we encourage residents to stay indoors in heated areas,” Pullion said. “Extreme cold weather can be just as dangerous as extremely hot weather. This is the time to watch out for those most vulnerable among us, especially children and older adults. Caution also should be taken with pets during extremely cold temperatures.”
