Carpenter Cup High School Baseball, Softball Tournaments Canceled
The tournaments that included high school baseball and softball all-stars from South Jersey has been canceled due to coronavirus.
The Carpenter Cup baseball and softball all-star tournaments have been cancelled due to the outbreak of coronavirus, organizers announced on Monday.
The tournaments, which take place every summer, pit the best baseball and softball players from South Jersey and Delaware against each other in a multiple-day tournament.
It takes place in South Philadelphia and is run by the Philadelphia Phillies. It was slated to begin June 15 before Monday’s announcement.

“In support of the recommendations by the State of Pennsylvania and public health officials, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Baseball and Softball Carpenter Cup,” organizers said in an announcement on Twitter. “This was done with the health and safety of our players, coaches, umpires, game day staff and fans in mind. We look forward to resuming play in 2021, stronger than ever. Until then, we send our thoughts and prayers to everyone impacted by COVID-19.”
