Cinnaminson Parents Organizing to Save HS Soccer Playoffs

Several local HS soccer teams are shut down because of Covid, ruining the post season. Parents want NJSIAA to move the playoffs to Spring.

Cinnaminson High School Boys' Soccer team won the first round of the NJSIAA Group 2 South playoffs by a score of 6-0 against Haddon Heights HS. The team had a great season with only one loss against Moorestown HS (who they also tied). After celebrating their huge win, they were given the unfortunate news that their season had to end. Cinnaminson High School is shut down for two weeks due to Covid-19 cases. Cinnaminson HS is among several teams in Group 2 South that had to shut down and lose their chance at a full post season.

Several parents have decided to organize a petition being sent to the NJSIAA to move the Group 2 South Playoffs to Spring 2021. They believe there can be a condensed playoffs during Spring 2021 and that the boys deserve the opportunity to continue their post season run. Tim Weick, father of Nate Weick, a starter on the varsity team, says "These kids have worked hard all year and they deserve a fair playoff. Some of the best teams can't play, including the reigning champions Delran HS. They need to make it fair for all of the teams, make the championship title meaningful and finish the season this Spring".

Within hours, there are already over a hundred signatures from parents and residents in Cinnaminson, Delran, and other towns in South Jersey. Here is the link if you would like to support them by signing and sharing their petition: https://www.change.org/p/njsia...
