Cinnaminson Police Host Blood Drive Aug. 6

CINNAMINSON, NJ — Cinnaminson police will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Aug. 6, the police department announced. The event takes place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 1621 Riverton Road in Cinnaminson.

Appointments are preferred and can be made online at redcrossblood.org. When making an appointment, use the sponsor code: Cinnaminson Police. The event includes “Power Red” and “Blood” drives, according to the Red Cross website.

A Power Red donation collects the red cells but returns most of the plasma and platelets to the donor. These donors must meet specific eligibility requirements and have type A Neg, B Neg, or O blood.

Blood is the most common type of donation, during which approximately a pint of 'whole blood' is given. This type of blood donation usually takes about an hour. Donors are reminded to hydrate and bring their ID the day of the event.
