Cinnaminson Schools Outline Plan For Safe Reopening
The Cinnaminson Public School District has outlined its plans for a Safe Return To School ahead of a full reopening this fall.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — The Cinnaminson Public School District has outlined its plans for a Safe Return To School ahead of a full reopening of all New Jersey schools this fall.
The district will continue to follow requirements for face coverings as set forth by the state at the time that schools reopen in the fall, and adjust as guidance evolves, according to a copy of the plan posted on the school district’s website.
Exceptions already exist for extreme temperatures, high-intensity physical activities, food consumption, and for scenarios that heighten medical risk. Masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be made available to staff and students.

The district will also continue to follow social distancing guidelines set forth by the state, and adjust as guidance evolves. The district has a plan to implement cohorts if necessary, but isn’t currently using that system. It would only be implemented under extreme circumstances or if required by governing authorities.
Furniture may be adjusted, and a limited number of people may be allowed in high-trafficked areas, such as libraries, computer labs and locker rooms.

The district will also continue to follow strict hygiene and cleaning standards in its facilities and on buses.
It will also continue to monitor the health of its students and staff, educating them about the coronavirus and asking them to stay home if they experience any symptoms. Nurses will continue to make referrals to coronavirus testing facilities, and follow all contact tracing procedures in conjunction with the state.
It has already taken steps to prevent the virus from becoming a problem in schools for the 2021-22 academic year. In March, the district partnered with Rite Aid to get interested staff members vaccinated. It also held vaccination clinics for students ages 12 and up on May 27 and June 18.
As far as students’ mental health is concerned, the district is looking to hire additional counseling staff to for Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons that will be delivered in all grades, K-12.
Students who were enrolled in the full remote option for the 2020-21 academic year will be included in all orientation activities for new students.
School counselors will work with building staff to identify students in need of support. These students will be supported by district staff or referred for outside services.
Professional development opportunities for staff will be included in school in-service schedules in the 2021-22 school year.
When it comes to academics, the district will offer learning acceleration opportunities for students during the summer and throughout the 2021-22 school year.
Staff members will use data to identify key standards and skills that may need to be addressed in subsequent classes. The district will continue to use benchmark assessments to monitor student achievement and to identify students who may need additional support. The full template can be found on the district website.
In May, Gov. Phil Murphy announced that all districts will return to full in-person instruction with no remote option for the 2021-22 academic year. The district received guidance from the state on May 24. The plan is a template all districts must use, submit and have approved by the local board of education and the NJDOE.
