Cinnaminson Township Committee Resumes In-Person Meetings Monday
Cinnaminson Township Committee will discuss recreational marijuana at its first in-person meeting since March 2020.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — Cinnaminson Township Committee resumes in-person meetings Monday night with both a special meeting and a regular meeting, the township announced on Friday. The meetings take place at the municipal building, 1621 Riverton Road in Cinnaminson.
Cinnaminson will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, followed by the committee’s regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. During the special meeting, Township Committee is set to authorize the submission of an application to Green Acres for improvements to East Riverton Park.
During its regular meeting, Township Committee will introduce a pair of proposed ordinances regarding the legalization of the recreational use of marijuana.

First, Township Committee will consider an amendment to township zoning regulations to include a section regarding cannabis establishments.
Secondly, Township Committee will consider a proposed tax of either 1 or 2 percent on cannabis sales, depending on the license the seller has.

Earlier this year, Township Committee established a sub-committee to explore how the legalization of recreational marijuana will impact Cinnaminson.
Deputy Mayor Stephanie Kravil, Committeeman Ernest McGill, Township Administrator Eric Schubiger and Police Chief Richard Calabrese were members of a sub-committee that was formed in 2018 when it appeared that the state would be legalizing marijuana for recreational use.

In November, New Jersey residents voted to legalize recreational marijuana use, and the sub-committee was reformed. The results of their work will be considered Monday night.
Township Committee meetings have been held via Zoom since March 2020, when Gov. Phil Murphy passed an executive order to shut down much of the state to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

As of Thursday, there have been 1,502 cases of the coronavirus and 44 deaths in Cinnaminson since the pandemic began more than a year ago. There have been 39,401 coronavirus cases and 792 deaths in Burlington County since March 2020.
