Code Blue In Burlington County For Second Straight Night
A Code Blue has been declared for the second straight night in Burlington County.
Despite the fact that South Jersey was spared the brunt of a winter storm that hit the region this week, Burlington County finds itself under a Code Blue Weather Alert for the second straight night, county officials announced on Tuesday.
The Code Blue Alert will be in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday night through 7 a.m. Wednesday morning. Officials will then review and assess upcoming weather forecasts.
"A Code Blue declaration is made in Burlington County when winter conditions pose a threat of serious harm or death to individuals without shelter," Burlington County Freeholder Director Pullion said. "When a Code Blue is enacted, it provides for short-term emergency sheltering."

During normal business hours, public buildings are available as warming centers. For overnight shelter, individuals can call New Jersey 211 for Emergency Shelter information.
"During a Code Blue declaration, we encourage residents to stay indoors in heated areas," Pullion said. "Extremely cold weather can be just as dangerous as extremely hot weather. This is the time to watch out for those most vulnerable among us, especially children and older adults. Caution also should also be taken with pets during extremely cold temperatures."
