Help For Daughter Sought After NJ Dad Falls Overboard, Dies: Cops

MARLTON – "Your daughter and mother are in my prayers...Wish I could reach out to them."

This was one of the many heartbreaking tributes paid now that friends are trying to help the daughter of a beloved New Jersey man who died in a horrible boat accident, according to authorities.

William “Billy” Krautwald, 37, a Marlton native, was one of two construction workers who fell into the Savannah River when their boat crashed into a barge two weeks ago, according to The Savannah Morning News.

His union has set up a GoFundMe page to help his daughter, Samara. "We are sorry to announce that Local 508 lost one of their members August 1, 2019," the page said. "Local 508 is trying to help the family by taking donations."

On his GoFundMe page and on his obituary, friends paid many tributes to "Billy."

"Local 508 appreciates all that came last night to his viewing here in Savannah. A big thank you to all that have and still are donating to this family. This brotherhood his amazing and it is showing!"

Billy was born in Marlton and had lived in Franklinville before moving to Richmond Hill, Ga. five years ago, according to his obituary.

He was a member of IBEW Local 508 and worked for White Electric.

His obituary said Krautwald was a very good athlete in high school where he played on the baseball and football teams. "He was a loving father and son and was blessed with many friends," the obituary said. "He was of the Catholic Faith."

"I'm at a loss. You are my best 'man friend,' Krat. What am I going to do without you!?" one tribute said. "I will forever cherish our memories, silly arguments, and all the great times! My heart is forever broken. May you watch over your family and beautiful daughter. Till we meet again my amazing friend! Love you always..."

Billy is survived by his daughter, Samara Krautwald; his parents, Bill and Peggy Krautwald; a brother, James Krautwald; and a beloved aunt, Cathy Larney; and several nieces and nephews, and friends.

A visitation was held last week at Richmond Hill Funeral Home. Burial was to be held at a later date in All Saints Cemetery and Mausoleum in Newfield, Nj.
