CINNAMINSON, NJ — Here's a look at some upcoming events at the Cinnaminson Library for the week of Sept. 16-21, 2019. Each event's description comes from the library's website. Click the name of each event for more information.

Monday, Sept. 16
Job Seekers 101, 10 a.m. to noon: Everything you need to prepare for your next interview. Be a stand out applicant by learning the correct way to write your resume, conduct your self during the interview and how to dress for success! This program is free and open to the public.

Chess Club, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Kids ages 8 and up are invited to join us for a session of Chess! Beginners, intermediate and advanced players are welcome. Registration is not required.

Chess Club, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.: For chess players of all levels. Beginners are both welcomed and encouraged! We can teach the rules of the game to those who wish to learn. Chess is an excellent way to keep your mind sharp and have fun while doing so. We will provide the boards but feel free to bring your own if you want. Snacks and drinks will also be provided!

Tuesday, Sept. 17
Tai Chi, 10:30 a.m. to noon: This is a beginner’s course in Qigong and Tai Chi, slow, gentle forms of exercise that help increase energy, flexibility, balance and body awareness. Those who suffer from bad posture, stiff joints, tension and instability should find the course especially helpful. No special equipment or attire required other than loose-fitting clothing and soft, flat-bottom shoes. This program is for adults only.

Preschool Power Hour, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Avoid the afternoon slump with this awesome program for kids under the age of six featuring stories, music and movement and early literacy activities. Ages 6 and under.

Writers' Critique Group, 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.: Have you always wanted to write and sell a book? Have you started or finished your first draft? Bring along your work-in-progress for a helpful and inspiring group critique.

Wednesday, Sept. 18
Baby and Toddler Time, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: It’s time to shake, rattle, and roll! Babies and toddlers are invited to listen to stories, sing songs, and dance along at Baby and Toddler Time.

Scrabble Club, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Do you love a good game of Scrabble? Look no further. You have found kindred spirits with the new Scrabble Club forming at the Cinnaminson Library. Players of all levels and all ages are welcome to drop in, and we hope, stick around. It's stimulating, educational and most of all, lots of fun!

Record Cover Notebooks, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Back to school supplies don't have to be boring, stop in to make a vintage record or book cover notebook with our binding machine. Bring your own art or use ours! For ages 11-18, and registration is required so that we may have an idea of how many supplies to provide.

Thursday, Sept. 19
Cursive Class, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Have you ever wanted to sign your name in a fancy script? Read older documents (like the Declaration of Independence)? Write messages to your friends that other people can't read? It's time to learn cursive writing! Come in and learn cursive lettering and practice in fun ways at the library with Miss Kristie. Best for ages 7 and up.

Friday, Sept. 20
The Writer's Clinic, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: If you need help with writing tasks like:

  • Resumes
  • Cover Letters
  • Filling out Forms (except for legal, financial and tax documents)
  • Writing Projects (i.e. toasts, speeches, reports, essays, etc.)
  • College Papers
  • Letters

We can help you! Meet one-on-one with a professional writing instructor and get the job done! This program is for adults only.

Saturday, Sept. 21
Talk Up a Storm: ESL Conversation Group, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Want to practice your English with other non-native speakers? Want to improve your vocabulary, grammar and speech in a safe and supportive environment? Join ESL facilitator, Kathy Orey, twice a month for conversation practice covering topics such as food, shopping, health, customs, holidays, and fun things to do. Important to know: Kathy Orey is the facilitator and will lead the group in activities.
