Jay’s life centered around his extensive family. He enjoyed spending his free time at the family camp on Lake Onawa, Maine. Nothing brought him more joy than sharing his love of Onawa with his family and friends. In particular, he took great pleasure in teaching his children and grandchildren the Onawa experience as only he knew. His time there was spent reliving his childhood memories through the eyes of the next generation. Onawa brought him indescribable peace and happiness his entire life.

As a father he devoted himself to providing his children with a life rich in love and experiences. It began with Indian Guides and Princesses and continued with his involvement in Boy Scouts for decades. He also never missed an opportunity to support his children, whether it was in their sporting endeavors, school projects or just building a tree house in the back yard, he never disappointed. Whether in grade school, high school, or college he supported their activities. In addition he was able to take his family on many trips throughout the United States. This enabled them to see many National Parks and other historic sites while visiting relatives along the way.
