Rowan College Town Hall To Explore Paying For College
Rowan College at Burlington County has put together a panel that will discuss paying for college at a town hall Wednesday evening.
BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — Paying for college is a major issue in the news with a new president set to take office next week.
President-elect Joe Biden has said he will call on Congress to cancel $10,000 in student debt, but there will be challenges. Rowan College at Burlington County has put together a panel that will discuss paying for college during this week’s Facebook town hall.
Sharon Austin of the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA), RCBC Alumni Trustee Stephanie Berdugo-Hernandez and RCBC Director of Financial Aid Jovina Bermudez will discuss the issue during the town hall, which will stream live on the college’s Facebook page at 6 p.m. Wednesday night.

“Students ask me all the time about how to fill out the FAFSA, which loans are available, what HESAA does and various financial aid questions, so discussing these topics in a public forum will definitely be beneficial to our community,” Berdugo-Hernandez said.
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the first step in determining eligibility for federal aid. In 2021, it is now easier and more integrated with the tax system. Additionally, the new coronavirus spending bill provides $22.7 billion to higher education, substantially more than was contained in the CARES Act.
