CINNAMINSON, NJ — Here’s a look at some upcoming events at the Cinnaminson Library for the week of Aug. 5-9, 2019.
Monday, Aug. 5
Make and Take Mondays!: Kids ages 4 to 12 are invited to pop into the library at any time on Mondays to create a craft that is out of this world based on our summer theme A Universe of Stories! This week’s project is Rocket Ships- create a shuttle out of tp tube. Blast off!
Free Health Screenings , 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: On the first Monday of each month, a registered nurse from Lourdes Health System will be in the meeting room to provide FREE health screenings and dispense health and wellness information. Walk-ins welcome!

Turtle Dance Music, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.: Space! The Cosmos For Kids is a techno-space-dance-party for kids. Each song includes dancing, music technology and information about our universe to a thumping beat. Audience members will meet aliens from outer space, sing about our solar system, participate in a rap battle with the sun and learn about the differences between revolution and rotation. Each song in the 45-minute show is accompanied by hands-on, visual, and sensory experiences designed to help kids learn and have fun at the same time. This is a family event.
Book Cafe, 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.: Gather with other book lovers to discuss your favorite books! In our August meeting, we’ll be having a book café. Let’s talk about what you have read recently. Get ideas about what you might to read next. Please bring along a book you’ve enjoyed. New members are always welcome.

Tuesday, Aug. 6:
Tai Chi, 10:30 a.m. to noon: This is a beginner’s course in Qigong and Tai Chi, slow, gentle forms of exercise that help increase energy, flexibility, balance and body awareness. Those who suffer from bad posture, stiff joints, tension and instability should find the course especially helpful. No special equipment or attire required other than loose-fitting clothing and soft, flat-bottom shoes. This program is for adults only.
Preschool Power Hour, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Avoid the afternoon slump with this awesome program for kids under the age of six featuring stories, music and movement and early literacy activities. Ages 6 and under.
IPhone and IPad Workshop, 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.:
Learn how to use your IPhone or IPad in this fun, informal workshop. Bring the following to the Cinnaminson Library:
- your fully charged IPhone or IPad
- your Apple (ITunes) user name and password (write them down)
- your questions
- paper and pen to take notes (until you fall in love with your notes app)
This is a no judgment zone!
Wednesday, Aug. 7:
Baby and Toddler Time, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: It’s time to shake, rattle, and roll! Babies and toddlers are invited to listen to stories, sing songs, and dance along at Baby and Toddler Time.
Scrabble Club, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Do you love a good game of Scrabble? Look no further. You have found kindred spirits. Players of all levels and all ages are welcome to drop in.
Creative Writing Workshop, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Welcome to a workshop where writers write. Through writing exercises, games, timed writing, and discussions with peers, we can find joy and satisfaction in creative writing. Bring your laptops. This program is for adults.
Thursday, Aug. 8:
Survive! The Titanic, 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Let's go down with the ship! Based on the popular I Survived book series this program uses STEAM activities to explore historical periods and natural disasters. We will look closer at the events with hand's on activities, games, and crafts. For ages 8 to 12.
Solar System Shrinky-Dink Bracelet, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Stop by the library to make a planetary shrinky dink bracelet or other spacey jewelry of your choice.! For kids ages 11 to 18.
IPhone and IPad Workshop, 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.:

Friday. Aug. 9:
Parachute Play, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Pop into the library for some fun play with the parachute. Dress comfortably for 35 minutes of fun songs and movement! Recommended for ages 5 and under. Registration is not required.
