Another Shipping Center Coming To Rt. 27 / Rt. 287 Area In Edison

The new warehouse is being built in the same area as the Amazon and FedEx buildings in the Rt. 27 / Rt. 287 area.

EDISON, NJ — Another warehouse and shipping facility is expected to break ground soon in Edison in the Route 27 and Route 287 area.

The 124,000 square foot warehouse will be built at 150 Whitman Avenue, off of Vineyard Road and behind the Costco. It's expected to open for commercial use in early 2020.

The warehouse will join the Amazon sort facility and the FedEx ground facility in the same area, both of which have caused traffic complaints from local residents. A spokesperson did not have information on how the new warehouse is expected to impact traffic, or if a traffic study was conducted.

No tenants have signed on yet, but the development company anticipates it will mostly be used by small to medium sized companies, including "last-mile delivery tenants" (meaning the building would be the last step for packages and items before they are sent directly to stores or consumers).

Bridge Development says the planned warehouse will have 23 exterior docks for trucks, five trailer positions, a 62-car parking lot, and a drive-in door. There will also be two offices, each about 1,900 square feet.
