Car Crash In Edison Sends Driver To Hospital With Broken Leg

The car, travelling at high speed, lost control on the wet road and hit a utility pole splitting it in half, said police.

EDISON NJ - A car travelling at high speed on Route 1 in Edison crashed early on Monday morning, causing the driver to be hospitalized with a broken leg, police said.

According to the police, at 4:11 a.m. on Monday, a car crashed into a utility pole on the intersection of Route 1 and Pierson Avenue.

"The car was travelling at high speed and lost control on the wet road," said Lt. Robert Dudash. The impact of the crash caused the utility pole to split into half.

The driver, whose name, age and hometown were not available, was taken to a hospital after suffering a broken leg, said Dudash. No other life threatening injuries were reported.

Route 1 was closed for a few hours on Monday morning, as the utility pole was being replaced.
