Crowded Primary Field For Edison Mayor, City Council

Three candidates have filed petitions to run for Mayor in the Democratic Primary. Meanwhile three council seats are up for grabs.

EDISON, NJ — Three candidates have filed petitions to run for Mayor in Edison’s Democratic Primary to be held on June 8.

Newcomer Arthur Esposito, Edison Democratic Organization Chairman Mahesh Bhagia and Councilman Samip ‘Sam’ Joshi have filed petitions with the township clerk.

The winner of the primary will face Republican Keith Hahn, who is running unopposed in the Republican Primary.

Joshi recently announced a full council slate that will be running alongside him — Margot Harris, John Poyner and Nishith Patel.

Bhagia is running with Tom McCann, Shannon Peng, and Sparshil Patel for Council.

Peng is currently a member of the Edison Board of Education.

Three Republicans are running for a seat on the Council — Tali Epstein, Joseph Luistro and Payal Mehta.
