In Edison, Booker & Menendez Endorse Joshi For Mayor

Candidate Sam Joshi bagged the endorsement of a few prominent Democrats ahead of the June 8 primary.

EDISON, NJ — As the race for Edison’s next mayor heats up, candidate Sam Joshi has picked up a few more endorsements.

Prominent Democrats, Sen. Cory Booker, and Sen. Bob Menendez have endorsed Joshi for mayor.

“Sam Joshi will be a great mayor for Edison because he understands what leadership is all about: treating people with respect and compassion, and bringing people together to unite around a common purpose in pursuit of a better future for everyone,” Booker said.

Joshi had also bagged the endorsement of Gov. Phil Murphy.

Menendez said he was "proud” to endorse Joshi in the Edison mayoral primary.

“As a former mayor, I know how tough the job is and what it is like to have people counting on you. Sam believes that government is about lifting people up and giving everyone a fair shot at success,” he said.

Other prominent Democrats who have endorsed Joshi so far include Congressman Frank Pallone and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin.

Three democratic candidates have filed their petitions to run for Mayor of Edison — newcomer Arthur Esposito, Mahesh Bhagia who is Edison Democratic Organization Chairman, and Joshi.

The Democratic Primary will be held on June 8.
