Edison Boy, 16, A St. Joe's Student, Killed By NJ Transit Train

EDISON, NJ — An 16-year-old teenage boy was hit and killed by an NJ Transit train Tuesday evening on Parsonage Road, according to an NJ Transit spokeswoman.

The teen was struck by the train in the vicinity of Rt. 27 and Parsonage Road at about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

"The victim is a 16-year-old male from Edison," said NJ Transit spokeswoman Lisa Torbic. "We are not releasing the name."

However, MyCentralJersey identified the teen as Aditya Tejaswi, a student at St. Joseph High School, a boys' Catholic high school in Metuchen.

The teen boy was on the tracks when he was struck by the train, said the NJ Transit spokeswoman.

"It is always a sad day when a member of our Saint Joseph High School faith community is suddenly and tragically taken from us," St. Joe's Principal Miguel Cabrita told New Jersey 101.5.
