Edison Gas Station Killing Suspect Indicted On Murder Charges
Marcus A. Wright, 23, is currently being held in a South Carolina jail ahead of extradition to NJ on charges he murdered his cellmate.

EDISON, NJ — A South Carolina man accused in the slaying of a gas station clerk in Edison last year has been indicted on murder chargers, Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L.C. Kuberiet said on Tuesday.
Marcus A. Wright, 23, from Beaufort, South Carolina, has been indicted on the following charges: first degree murder, first degree felony murder, first degree armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
John Bertram, 38, from Fords, was fatally shot around 4 a.m. on Dec. 20, 2018 while working at the Speedway Gas Station on Amboy Ave, then-Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wright and Olya Quinnam, also 23 from Beaufort, South Carolina, were arrested two weeks after the alleged murder in South Carolina. In addition to murder, Wright was also charged with first degree armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Quinnam has been charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and hindering apprehension.
Wright is currently being held in a jail in South Carolina, where he faces another murder charge. According to an arrest warrant, Wright and a cellmate were in a fight when Wright used "personal weapons" to fatally hit the other man in the head.

If extradited and convicted in the Edison killing, Wright faces life in jail.
