Edison To Host Annual Fishing Derby
Lake Papaianni will be stocked with brook and rainbow trout for the event.
EDISON, NJ — Edison will be hosting its 38th annual fishing derby on Free Fishing Day, June 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event is jointly hosted by Mayor Thomas Lankey, Edison Council, Edison Recreation Department and the New Jersey Department of Fish and Wildlife. The kids derby will be held from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., right before the main derby.
Lake Papaianni will be stocked with brook and rainbow trout for the event and entry fee is $10 per participant. Participation for residents 65 years and above is free.

Registered derby participants who catch a tagged fish, will be eligible for a prize.
After June 5, all anglers between the ages of 16 and 69 must have a current fishing license and trout stamp.

Those registered for this event can continue to fish for prizes throughout the season. There will be 200 fish tagged for the event and participants need to bring their own fishing equipment and bait.
Face masks are required and participants need to follow social distancing rules at the event.
To register, click on www.EdisonNJ.org, go to “Register for Recreation Now” and follow the instructions.
Participants can also register the day of the event between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
