Edison Man ID'd As Body Floating In Hudson River

A 23-year-old Edison man has been identified as one of the two bodies found floating Saturday in the Hudson River off Jersey City.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — An Edison man has been identified as one of the two bodies found floating Saturday in the Hudson River off Jersey City.

The body of Umair Saleh, 23, of Edison, was found in the Morris Canal, near the Colgate clock in Jersey City just before 1 p.m. Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Earlier that same day, police pulled the dead body of a woman out of the Hudson River. She was found off the Harborside area, about fifty yards away from where his body was found. She was found shortly after 7:30 that morning, and pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified as Elizabeth Leyn, a 22-year-old woman from Manhattan.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has not said if the two deaths are connected.

The cause and manner of death for both the man and woman has also not been determined, pending the findings of the regional Medical Examiner.
