Edison Primary Election Results: Sam Joshi Wins
The town council candidates who ran alongside Joshi were also the top vote-getter.
EDISON, NJ — Middlesex County has released the unofficial vote tallies and as of 9 a.m. June 9, Councilman Sam Joshi has won the Democratic nomination for Edison mayor.
Unofficial results showed Joshi got 5955 votes, Edison Democratic Chairman Mahesh Bhagia got 3185 votes and Arthur Esposito received 546.
The town council candidates who ran alongside Joshi were also the top vote-getter. Here's how many votes each council candidate received:

- John Poyner, MCDO - 5445
- Nishith Patel, MCDO - 5421
- Tom McCann, Democratic of Middlesex County - 3531
- Shannon Peng, Democratic of Middlesex County - 3580
- Sparshil Patel, Democratic of Middlesex County - 3539
Early in the race, Joshi had bagged endorsements from Gov. Phil Murphy, Senators Cory Booker and Bob Menendez, and other prominent NJ Democrats.
Joshi is expected to face Republican candidate Keith Hahn, retired township police officer, in the November elections. Council candidates will face Joe Luistro, Payal Mehta and Tali Epstein.
