Edison Murder Suspect Accused Of Murdering Cellmate: Officials
Marcus A. Wright, 23, was awaiting extradition on Edison murder charges when he allegedly killed his cellmate, officials said.

EDISON, NJ — A man charged in the murder of a gas station attendant in Edison has been accused of killing his cellmate in a South Carolina jail, S.C. Department of Corrections said in a press release.
Marcus A. Wright, 23, from Beaufort, South Carolina, was awaiting extradition to New Jersey in a South Carolina jail when he allegedly murdered his cellmate, Matthew Williams, 31, on Sept. 13. According to an arrest warrant, Wright and Williams were in a fight when Wright used "personal weapons" to fatally hit Williams in the head.
Wright has been charged with murder in Williams' death.

This is the second murder change in less than ten months for Wright. He was previously charged with murder in connection to a December 2018 Edison robbery.
John Bertram, 38, from Fords, was fatally shot around 4 a.m. on Dec. 20 while working at the Speedway Gas Station on Amboy Ave, then-Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wright and Olya Quinnam, also 23 from Beaufort, South Carolina, were arrested two weeks after the alleged murder in South Carolina. In addition to murder, Wright was also charged with first degree armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Quinnam has been charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and hindering apprehension.
