Edison School District Postpones Return To Hybrid Learning
Increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases in town has forced the school district to postpone its return to hybrid learning.
EDISON, NJ – Edison Township Public schools has postponed return to hybrid learning by two weeks, due to increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases.
The school district was scheduled to return on Jan. 19, but has now pushed back the date to Feb.1.
In a letter to the school community, school superintendent Bernard J. Bragen said reopening on Jan. 19 did not feel “appropriate now.”

“With the continued increases in positive COVID-19 cases both nationally and locally, we feel it is prudent to delay our return to hybrid instruction until February 1, 2021, the start of the third marking period,” he said.
Bragen said school authorities had expected to see a decline in positivity rate before returning on Jan. 19.

“These additional two weeks will hopefully afford ample time for that to occur,” he said.
When the district returns to the hybrid learning model on Feb. 1, students and staff will be in classrooms Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
“Wednesday will remain a fully remote day to allow for deep cleaning of each building,” said Bragen.
“We are all in this together, and we will get through this together as well.”
Edison is not the only school district to push back its return to the hybrid learning model. East Brunswick schools announced today it was postponing its return to Feb. 7.
