Edison Schools Postpones Return To In-Person Classes Yet Again
Superintendent Bernard Bragen said it was "prudent" to delay return to in-person classes as high number of employees test positive for COVID
EDISON, NJ – The Edison Township public school district has once again pushed back it’s return to in-person classes in the hybrid model.
School Superintendent Bernard Bragen made the announcement on Wednesday. The district was supposed to bring back students for in-person learning on Feb. 1 but the growing number of cases among the school community has prompted the district to postpone the date.
The tentative date for reopening is now March 1.

Bragen said school officials have been monitoring state and township COVID-19 data. “While the holiday spike of COVID-19 cases seems to have peaked, the numbers are still very high, especially in our local area,” Bragen said.
“During this week, even with children participating in a fully remote learning program, we had a higher degree of positive COVID-19 cases and quarantines among employees than at any other time since the start of the pandemic.”

Bragen said it would be “prudent” to delay the return of children to school buildings.
He said the school district will continue to monitor the data from the state and in the township to make a decision.
The school district was initially scheduled to return for in-person learning on Jan. 19, but pushed back the date to Feb.1.
On Thursday the township reported 44 new COVID-19 cases and on Wednesday recorded 57 cases. Edison continues to trend high on the number of daily COVID-19 cases.
