EDISON, NJ — Edison Public Schools Superintendent Bernard F Bragen Jr., has thanked the community for making the school year a "success" amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the school year approaching its end, Bragen said his first thought was "gratitude for the efforts of our students, teachers, staff, and parents..."

"With the COVID-19 impact looming over this school year, our resolve and flexibility were significantly tested, and yet our school community rose to the occasion, providing our students' superlative educational programming across a variety of platforms," Bragen said.

“This ensured that school was at least one constant that the children of our community could count on during these uncertain times.”

The Superintendent said he was "proud of the entire school community,” and that he believed “we have emerged from this pandemic stronger than when we entered it.”

Bragen said he expects a "return to normalcy in September”, with schools opening in the “traditional manner” with all students returning to in-person instruction.

“Our administrative teams are ensuring that the schools are fully staffed, stocked, equipped, and ready for the return to full capacity,” he informed the community.

"As with all things related to COVID-19, this depends on the status of the virus in our community and the regulations in place at the time, but our fingers are crossed.”

On Tuesday, Edison seniors will celebrate graduation at both high schools. The ceremony at John P. Stevens High School is scheduled at 4 p.m., and 8 p.m. at Edison High School. The ceremony will be conducted on each school's athletic field.
