Emergency Roadwork Closes Talmadge Road Thursday

Breaking: The road might not be open by the evening drive home.

EDISON, NJ — Some Edison drivers might have a messy drive home tonight: Talmadge Road has been closed since 11 a.m., and it's not clear when today it will reopen.

A sewer line broke around 11 a.m. near National Road, township officials said, and forced the closure of the road between Route 27 and New Durham Road. Public works crews began work on the line shortly after the break happened, but the road remains closed as of 2:20 p.m., and will remain closed for several more hours. It was not clear if it would be open by the evening commute.

No area homes or businesses lost water as a result.
