Fatal Stabbing In Piscataway Tuesday Night, Prosecutor Says

Police found a 32-year-old Piscataway man lying in a driveway on School Street, stabbed in the leg. He died at the hospital.

PISCATAWAY, NJ — A Piscataway man has been arrested and is charged with stabbing another Piscataway man to death Tuesday night on the 50 block of School Street, announced the Middlesex County prosecutor.

William Johnson, 40, has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose for causing the death of Lawrence Darby, 32, also of Piscataway.

Piscataway police were called to the area at approximately 10:15 p.m. after receiving several 911 calls of an assault in progress. When police caught there, they located Darby, the victim, in a driveway on School Street with what appeared to be a significant stab wound to his upper leg area.

Police allege that Johnson had stabbed the victim during an altercation and then fled to his home nearby. He was located at his home and taken into police custody.

Darby was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he died of his injury.
