Man Sentenced To 3 Years For Metuchen Hit And Run: Prosecutor
Paddy Flynn was sentenced on Tuesday for knowingly leaving the scene of the accident resulting in the death of Michael Bergamasco.
METUCHEN, NJ — A Toms River man was sentenced to three years in prison for the death of a pedestrian in Metuchen, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone.
Paddy Flynn was sentenced on Tuesday by Superior Court Judge Joseph A. Paone, for knowingly leaving the scene of the accident resulting in the death of Michael Bergamasco, 51, of Whippany, said prosecutors.
The accident took place during the early hours of March 2.

Flynn pleaded guilty on July 14 and reached a plea deal with the Middlesex County.

According to prosecutors, on March 2 around 9:01 a.m., Flynn was driving a white Ford F 250 pickup truck when he struck the 51-year old utility worker on the crosswalk at the intersection of Middlesex Avenue and Grove Avenue. Flynn then fled the scene.
Bergamasco was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation was conducted by Sergeant Robert Belluscio of the Metuchen Police Department, and Detective Jonathan Berman of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
