Metuchen Changes Speed Limit On County Rds. To 25 MPH

These roads include Amboy, Central, Middlesex, Plainfield, and Woodbridge Avenues, Main Street, and New Durham and Plainfield Roads.

METUCHEN, NJ — The borough of Metuchen will lower the speed limit on all County roads within the borough to 25 miles per hour, effective February 14.

These roads include Amboy, Central, Middlesex, Plainfield, and Woodbridge Avenues, Main Street, and New Durham and Plainfield Roads.

The news was announced Friday afternoon by Middlesex County, and Metuchen will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. Feb. 11 at the corner of Main Street and West Cedar Street to announce the news.

In conjunction with lowering the speed limit on all County roads in the borough, Metuchen officials have embraced the "Slow Down In Our Town" initiative. Slow Down In Our Town is a speed reduction campaign in partnership with neighborhood residents and local law enforcement, working together to coordinate placement of Slow Down In Our Town lawn signs in targeted neighborhoods to reduce speeding and increase pedestrian safety by raising awareness.
