Metuchen To Host 'Rolling Parade,' Art Contest On Memorial Day

The fire department will be riding through town, joined by the police department and a few emergency vehicles.

METUCHEN, NJ — This Memorial Day, Metuchen will be organizing a "rolling parade" through neighborhoods.

The parade will be led by the fire department and will begin at 9:30 a.m. on May 31. The borough will not be hosting a traditional parade due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The fire department will be riding through town, joined by the police department and a few emergency vehicles. The parade will be followed by the ceremony at Memorial Park at 11:30 a.m.

The event will be available virtually on Metuchen's Facebook page.

The Parade Commission is also organizing the annual Memoria Day Art Contest. Submissions are from Metuchen schools, helped by the Metuchen Arts Council.

This annual tradition honors those who have served the country. A team of judges will review all artwork and select winners from each grade and one overall winner.

The municipality is also encouraging residents to visit local businesses and restaurants during the Memorial day weekend.
