Metuchen Receives Grant To Repair Kahn’s Crossing Bridge
Kahn's Crossing Bridge was shut down for safety reasons in 2018 after engineers found rusting and deterioration during an inspection.

METUCHEN, NJ – The Borough of Metuchen recently received funding to repair Kahn’s Crossing Bridge. The State’s Transportation Trust Fund has given Metuchen funding of $308,500 to repair the bridge, Metuchen Mayor Jonathan Busch announced in a Facebook post.
Kahn’s Crossing Bridge was shut down for safety reasons in early 2018. Engineers found rusting and deterioration during an inspection. The bridge connects Graham Avenue across the Greenway trail gap. A historically significant neighborhood, Graham Avenue attracts many pedestrians.
“Excited to announce that after years of applying for various sources of funding, we just got word that the Borough will be getting $308,500.00 from the State’s Transportation Trust Fund towards the repair of the Kahn’s Crossing Bridge,” Busch said on Facebook. "We know that the pedestrian bridge’s present condition has been a sore spot for many in the Graham Avenue neighborhood.”

Busch said the borough does not have a timeline yet for the completion of the project. “We still have to evaluate the total cost for repair of the bridge but the State’s commitment is most certainly a big first step toward a long overdue important Borough infrastructure repair,” he said.
The funds are being provided through the state’s Local Aid Infrastructure Fund program.
