Metuchen’s First Presbyterian Church To Host Talk On Antiracism
The virtual talk will feature author and professor Ibram X. Kendi and will be moderated by journalist Amanda Ripley.
METUCHEN, NJ — The First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen is hosting a conversation on tackling racism featuring author Ibram X. Kendi, on April 28.
Kendi is the author of ‘How To Be An Antiracist,’ and professor in the Humanities at Boston University. He is also the Founding Director of BU Center for Antiracist Research.
The session will be moderated by investigative journalist and author, Amanda Ripley.

The church said that houses of worship need to find their voice to become antiracist and speak to the need of reckoning and reconciliation.
“Join us April 28 to break the silence about systemic racism in America and discuss how we combat it in our houses of worship and lives,” Rev. Dr. Fred Garry, Senior Pastor & Head of Staff of FPC said in a statement.

The event was made possible by a Greystone Fund Grant, from Presbytery of Elizabeth.
A number of churches in the area have sponsored the event. They include St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Metuchen; New Hope Baptist Church of Metuchen; Church of the Nazarene of Edison; Neve Shaloam of Metuchen; Temple Emanu-El of Edison; New Dover Methodist Church of Edison; First Reformed Church of New Brunswick; Raritan Valley Baptist Church; Oak Tree Presbyterian Church of Edison; Reformed Church of Metuchen; Centenary Methodist Church of Metuchen; and First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen.
