New Brunswick Man Struck And Killed By Minivan In Edison
Francis S. Marte, 29, was struck and killed while trying to cross the road, said state police.
EDISON, NJ – A 29-year-old man from New Brunswick was struck and killed by a minivan while crossing the inner lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike in Edison Monday morning, authorities said.
Francis S. Marte from New Brunswick was pronounced dead at the scene, said Trooper Charles Marchan.
According to the state police, around 3:07 a.m. Marte was involved in a two-car crash on the northbound turnpike's inner roadway at mile-marker 84.1 in Edison.

Marte got out of his car and was crossing the road when he was hit by a Chrysler Voyager traveling northbound on the inner roadway.
No other injuries were reported from the separate crashes.

The fatal crash remains under investigation and no other information was released by the state police.
Several lanes were closed on the turnpike during the investigation on Monday morning.
