New Jersey Transit Bans Drinks During SantaCon
Sorry, Santas-- you'll have to wait until you're off the train to enjoy milk with your cookies.

METUCHEN, NJ — Sorry, Santas: you won't be able to drink any beverages on New Jersey Transit busses, trains or light rail cars during SantaCon this weekend.
NJ Transit announced the ban on all "liquid beverages" between Dec. 9 and "early morning" Dec. 10. The ban applies to any NJ Transit vehicle, not just trains. The agency typically bans alcoholic beverages on trains during SantaCon, a day-long, Christmas themed bar crawl. The agency said the policy will be "strictly enforced."
Drinking is also banned in the New York City subways.

Those traveling into the city on Saturday should expect to see plenty of partiers dressed up as elves, Santas and Mrs. Clauses during their train rides. SantaCon NYC draws thousands of participants from New Jersey, and begins at 10 a.m. (You can learn more about it here.)
The blanket ban on "liquid beverages," as opposed to just alcoholic drinks, drew some ire on Twitter, with customers complaining they would have to forgo coffee or bottled water this Saturday.
