Learn from the pros at this "Scoop and Score" football camp.

EDISON-METUCHEN, NJ - From the Township of Edison: Edison is once again hosting its innovative football camp on Thursday (June 21) to help youngsters hone their gridiron skills and, more importantly, learn how to apply the values of teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship in their everyday life.
The popular “Scoop & Score Success” football camp, for youngsters ages 6 to 18, will be held from 10-2 p.m. at Edison High School and features eight NFL players coaching young players about how they can use their football skills off the field.
“Our camp enables youngsters to get hands-on instruction from NFL players who they may have only seen on television,” said Michael Campbell, the town’s Youth Opportunity Coordinator. “What’s makes Scoop & Score special is the strong emphasis we place on academics, health and wellness, character building, and community involvement.”

“Sports can be a valuable tool to teach youngsters the importance of strong work ethics, self-discipline and becoming a well-rounded person,” said Campbell, former NFL wide receiver for the New York Jets and St Louis Rams.
Coaching and mentoring youngsters on Thursday will be Edison natives Jeremy Zuttah, offensive lineman for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Leonte Carroo, wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins.

Wright; and NY Giants defensive back Brandon Bing.
“Our football camp is a tremendous learning opportunity for our children and teenagers,” said Mayor Thomas Lankey. “I am extremely proud that Edison has attracted such a notable lineup of NFL talent to coach and mentor our youth. Scoop & Score promises to be a terrific annual event for our community.”
So far, 75 youngsters have signed up for Thursday’s “Scoop & Score” camp, but Campbell said he expects more to enroll in the next 48 hours. Last year, when the camp debuted, 135 children and teens signed up, many on day of the event.
To register youngsters for the four-hour camp, parents or guardians may visit the Edison Recreation
Department at the Municipal Complex, 100 Municipal Blvd in Edison or go online at www.edisonnj.org.
