Picnic, BBQ Reservations Required At Nine Middlesex CO. Parks

The Parks & Recreation Department has introduced a new online reservation system to book a picnic grove. Reservations begin Thursday.

EDISON, NJ — If you plan to visit Middlesex County parks for a picnic or barbecue, you might want to make a reservation ahead of time.

The Middlesex County’s Parks and Recreation Department has introduced a new online reservation system, that will allow visitors to reserve a picnic grove at nine county parks beginning Thursday.

According to officials, the picnic groves offer residents a socially distanced way to host picnics and small gatherings outdoors.

First reservations are available on April 24.

The parks included in this new reservation system are Alvin Williams Park in Woodbridge Township, Donaldson Park in Highland Park, Fords Park in Woodbridge Township, Johnson Park in Piscataway Township, Joseph Medwick Park in Carteret, Merrill Park in Woodbridge Township, Roosevelt Park in Edison Township, Thompson Park in Monroe Township, Warren Park in Woodbridge Township.

Middlesex County Commissioner Director Ronald G. Rios said the new electronic reservation system will provide a “safe and convenient” way for residents to enjoy the outdoors.

“With the health and well-being of our employees and community remaining paramount, we encourage residents and visitors to enjoy our public parks while continuing to exercise precautions to keep from contracting or spreading COVID-19.”

Fees for each location varies and depend on the Executive Order in place at the time of event.
