Stolen Car Leads Edison Police On Chase, Crashes Into Pole: PD

The chase ended in Avenel, after a North Brunswick man is accused of crashing a stolen car, police say.

EDISON, NJ — A North Brunswick man was arrested earlier this week, when he allegedly used a stolen car to lead Edison police on a chase into Avenel, Edison Police said.

Ibe O. Allah Jr., 18, was arrested on Monday, after the chase and crash. Police say they had been alerted to the stolen car, which was being tracked by GPS.

Officers spotted Allah on Route 1 near Grandview Ave, but when Allah saw the cop car, he sped away, police said. The chase ended when Allah crashed into a pickup truck and a utility pole at Route 1 South near Smith Street.

Allah was extricated from the damaged car, but refused medical attention before being placed under arrest, police said. He was charged with receiving stolen property, eluding police, and possession of controlled dangerous substances for 40 opioid pills that police say they found inside the stolen SUV.
