Volunteers Needed For COVID-19 Vaccine Mega-Site In Edison

EDISON, NJ — The Middlesex County COVID-19 Vaccine Mega-site in Edison is looking for volunteers to assist in the registration and vaccination process.

The site, operated by RWJBarnabas Health , is the largest academic health care system in New Jersey.

Volunteers of the Mega-site, located at the NJ Convention & Expo Center in Edison, greet patients and visitors, perform temperature screenings, direct patients through various steps of the vaccination process, provide education materials and assist in registration area and supplying vaccination stations.

Volunteers do not administer the COVID-19 vaccines.

“The work we’re doing at our Middlesex County Vaccine Mega-site is saving lives and bringing families back together,” Bonnie Geissler, MHA, RN, Director of the Mega-site and Vice President of Special Projects at RWJBarnabas Health, said in a statement.

“Every vaccine we administer is getting us one step closer to slowing the spread of COVID-19, but we can’t do this work without dedicated team of volunteers.”

Geissler said those who join the team have the opportunity “to be a part of history.”

Those who apply to volunteer must be at least 18 years old. All applicants will be subject to a background check and a drug screen and will need to sign a confidentiality statement.

Volunteers must commit to at least two shifts per week, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. They can also opt for one full day - 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with an hour break for lunch, per week through June.

Shifts are available seven days a week.

College students requiring community service hours can also apply.

RWJBarnabas Health will track hours and provide written verification for those who need it.
