Woodbridge Man Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On Rt. 440 In Edison

Govinda Rishi, 29, from Keasbey, Woodbridge died at the scene, said State Police.

EDISON, NJ – A Woodbridge man driving the wrong way down Route. 440 exit ramp was killed after he collided with a trailer on Tuesday, New Jersey State Police said.

Govinda Rishi, 29, from Keasbey section of Woodbridge died at the scene after his Honda crashed into a Volvo tractor semi-trailer, said police.

At 4:58 p.m. Tuesday, troopers said they responded to a three-vehicle crash near Route. 440 northbound ramp to the Woodbridge Avenue exit ramp.

According to police, Rishi was driving a 2013 Honda SUV, traveling north on the exit ramp in the wrong direction.

The Volvo tractor semi-trailer and a Freightliner tractor semi-trailer were exiting the ramp, when Rishi’s car hit the Volvo head-on. The freightliner hit the rear of the Volvo, said police.

Drivers of both trailers did not suffer any injuries.

State Police had shutdown the exit ramp for accident investigation.
