Flemington Youth Rally To Stop Line 3 Pipeline This Saturday
The rally is starting at noon, at the Hunterdon County Democratic Committee Office.
FLEMINGTON, NJ — A youth-led group from Hunterdon County Sunrise Movement is protesting this Saturday against the Line 3 oil pipeline replacement project in Northern Minnesota.
The project aims to replace the existing 1,097-mile crude oil pipeline extending from Edmonton, Alberta to Superior, Wisconsin, built in the 1960s.
"The detrimental impacts from this pipeline will continue to harm our people, land, water, and other natural resources if we do not take proper actions to stop it," a statement sent by the group said. "This is an ongoing crisis that needs to be addressed with urgency."

The rally is starting at noon, by the Hunterdon County Democratic Committee Office, at 155 Main St. It is part of an overall day of action from the group, in "an effort to support the Indigenous water protectors who have led the charge on stopping the pipeline’s construction."
The group will have hand-painted signs, banners, and posters, as well as megaphones for speakers and performers.

"Ending the Line 3 pipeline would be a step towards environmental justice and toward a clean energy future.," the same statement said.
Enbridge, the company responsible for the project, claims that the replacement of the aging pipeline will be beneficial to the environment and that any unwanted impacts will be temporary and mostly related to the construction phase.
"More than 20 federal, state and local permits and approvals were needed prior to construction of this most studied pipeline project in Minnesota history," Enbridge wrote on its website, claiming to also have consulted with tribal communities during the planning phase in order to minimize impact to their cultural resources.
