HCVSD Hosts Adult & Continuing Education Virtual Open Houses

Thursday, May 13 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 15 at 10 a.m.

(HCVSD)

Flemington, N.J. – Hunterdon County Vocational School District’s Adult & Continuing Education (ACE) program may have the fresh start many of us have been looking for this spring. Exploring opportunities at HCVSD’s ACE Virtual Open House on either Thursday, May 13 or Saturday, May 15, may help you re-engage and re-energize by taking a step toward a new career or promotion or even discovering a new passion.

Individuals aged 16 and older are invited to explore the range of programming offered by the ACE program, including those providing training for consistently stable occupations such as automotive technician, phlebotomist, heavy equipment operator and veterinary assistant.

ACE also coordinates apprenticeship programs in electrical, HVAC and plumbing. Although the apprenticeship programs take longer to complete, students often find work just by enrolling in the program, because employers are willing to invest in them as they demonstrate a commitment to the trade and furthering their skills.

For those looking for something fun and interesting as part of their lifelong learning, ACE also offers courses ranging from upholstery to photography and even drone operation.

“Our Adult & Continuing Education program incorporates the best of hands-on learning and instruction from practicing professionals,” said Tanya Nalesnik, director of grant management, admissions & security and supervisor of the Bartles campus. “Our classes offer opportunities for adults to gain high quality technical and professional skills to help advance their careers, as well as programs that provide personal enrichment,” she continued.

Although most courses begin in fall 2021, ACE will offer a Certified Nurse Aide course beginning June 15.

You must register to attend the virtual Open House on either Thursday, May 13 at 6 p.m. or Saturday, May 15 at 10 a.m. For course information, apprenticeship registration or additional information about the ACE program in general, please visit http://www.hcvsdadulted.org, or contact Christina Shockley at cshockley@hcvsd.org or (908) 788-1119 ext. 2009. Shockley will also lead the virtual Open Houses and answer questions following the presentations.

The Adult & Continuing Education division (hcvsdadulted.org) is among the five distinct schools offered by Hunterdon County Vocational School District. The largest is Hunterdon County Polytech Career & Technical High School (polytech.hcvsd.org), which is the district’s shared-time high school that prepares students for a seamless transition to college and career paths. HCVSD also operates three full-time science-based academies. Learn more at www.hcvsd.org.

All pupils will be given equal opportunity for enrollment in programs operated by the Hunterdon County Vocational School District regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, affectional or sexual orientation, gender, religion, disability, or socioeconomic status (34 C.F.R. Part 100, Appendix B, Section IV-A). No qualified handicapped person shall, on the basis of handicap, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or otherwise be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity which receives federal financial assistance, et seq (34 C.F.R.
