Heavy Machinery Driver Airlifted After Falling Into 10-Foot Hole
The victim was driving a steamroller and fell into the excavation for a septic bed, the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad said.
FLEMINGTON, NJ — A heavy machinery driver fell into a 10-foot hole of a construction site, Thursday morning, according to the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad. He was rescued and airlifted to a hospital in Pennsylvania.
The incident happened sometime before 10:43 a.m. when the rescue squad was called.
The victim was operating a soil compactor with a steamroller near a 10-foot excavation for a future septic bed when it began to overturn into the hole. The operator managed to jump off the machine and avoid being crushed down by it.

Yet, the victim still fell into the hole, sustaining injuries to his lower extremities and having to receive care from the paramedics. The patient was put into a stretcher, moved up to ground level with a reverse ladder slide, and then flown to Luke's Allentown Campus, in Pennsylvania.
