Lanza: Join On-Line Petition Calling For Legislature to Reverse Governor’s School Aid Cuts
Hunterdon County Freeholder Board Deputy Director John E. Lanza has called on parents, school officials, educators, property taxpayers and students to join an on-line petition calling for the Legislature to reverse of the Governor’s proposed education aid cuts to Hunterdon County school districts.
Nineteen Hunterdon County school districts are scheduled to lose $2.1 million in education aid under Governor Phil Murphy’s proposed FY 2020 state budget.

Lanza said, “These school aid cuts are devastating to many districts and will have serious ramifications such as property tax increases, educational programming cuts, and potential staff layoffs. We need to make the Legislature understand the gravity of the situation.
Legislators will respond when the public makes its collective voice heard. The Legislature has the power to change the school funding allocations, as part of the budget process prior to the start of the new state fiscal year on July 1st.”
