Update: 17-Year-Old Girl Ejected From Car Sunroof in Kozloski Accident

Four vehicles are totaled after a 17-year-old girl appeared to have run a red light at Kozloski Road and Center Street at 2:44 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a press release issued by the Freehold Township Police Department.

The Freehold Township girl was driving a 2010 Hummer H3 traveling west on Freneau Boulevard. According to police, the girl ran a red light as she crossed Kozloski. She was then struck by a 2012 Honda Accord driven by Amy Latorre, 31, of Perth Amboy, who was traveling southbound on Kozloski. Both cars then struck a 2005 Honda Accord that was stopped at the red light on Center Street facing east. 

The driver of the stopped car said he didn't even have time for his life to flash before his eyes. “I saw an orange and black thing coming at me. The path of destruction went right over the top of my car,” said Henry Scharff, 68, of Toms River.

The Hummer then hit a fourth car, a 2005 Saturn Vue driven by Victor Terwilliger of Wayside. The Hummer rolled over the Saturn, which was parked directly behind Scharff's Honda at the light.

According to police, as the Hummer rolled over the Saturn, the 17-year-old girl was ejected from the car sun roof. The Hummer finally comes to rest on the lawn of the Monmouth County Hwy Department.

The 17-year-old, Latorre and Terwilliger were all transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center. Scharff was the only person who walked away from the accident.

“There were people lying on the ground bleeding. You can tell from the damage they are very hurt. I could have been killed," he said.

The MONOC Paramedics, , Colts Neck First Aid, Monmouth County Hwy Department and the also responded and assisted at the scene.

The Freehold Township Police Department is still investigating a crash along with S.C.A.R.T. and the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office.
