Allan Russell, 58, Former Owner Of The Chapter House In Howell
He spent his career working in restaurants, became managing partner of The Chapter House; he loved to watch his grandson play football.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — Allan Russell, who owned the Chapter House restaurant, watching the New York Giants and playing Santa Claus, has died. He was 58.
Mr. Russell, who was born in Elizabeth and lived in Freehold Township his entire life. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at JFK Medical Center, Edison, according to his obituary from Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home.
Well-known by everyone in the area through his restaurant jobs, Allan started his career at the Court Jester, where he met his wife, Sharon. He later trained associates at Tiger’s Tale in Princeton and worked at the Ivy League in Howell. Allan opened the Chapter House in 1992 as managing partner and remained there until retiring from the restaurant business in 2009.

On Sundays he could be found watching the Giants with his best friends, Steve and Eva. He volunteered his time decorating downtown Freehold during the holiday season and played Santa for several years. An avid golfer, Allan loved playing the Monmouth County courses. He enjoyed going out, trying out new restaurants and going to area wineries.
Allan’s greatest love in life was his grandson, Dante, and he loved going to his football games, and spending time with him.

In addition to his grandson, Allan is survived by his wife, Sharon Russell of Freehold Township; his daughter, Heather Russell and her husband, Chris Sanders, of Brick; his son, James Russell and his wife, Bonnie, of Matawan; his father, James G. Russell of Freehold Township; and his sister, Catherine Reevey and her husband, Henry, of Freehold Township. He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Russell; and his brother, Graham Russell.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from to 3:00 to 6:30 PM with his funeral service to take place at 6:30 PM. Interment will be private.
