Freehold Township Historic Preservation Commission Launches Oral History Project

The Freehold Township Historic Preservation Commission is launching a new project to compile an oral history of the area. The Commission is currently seeking alumni of Freehold Township elementary schools and Freehold Boro High School who attended prior to 1959. This includes any of the 8 one room schoolhouses as well as the West Freehold School currently serving as the Administration building on Rt. 537.

You will be involved in an Oral History program to be recorded and maintained as a reference for future generations. This is part of an ongoing project to ouch on all aspects of life in Freehold Township, including the early days of education. For this part of the project the commission wants to have a record of your experiences during your school years.

The commission is inviting those interested to to respond by email at ftheritage1686@yahoo.com or by calling 732-577-9766.  For now all the commission needs is your name, address and phone number. Within a few weeks, the commission will have a list of questions each person will be asked. Then you will be invited to speak about your experiences, sharing perhaps a funny story or something that has stayed with you since your school days.
