Applewood Retirement Community Featured on CBS 2 New York

Applewood, a Freehold retirement community, has a program called Tools-4-Schools where volunteers help students in Freehold Boro schools.

The Applewood staff and residents work in tandem to make our Freehold area community the best it can be. As a not-for-profit organization, Applewood has a social responsibility to give back.

To support this mission, Tools 4 Schools is a two-year-young program where Applewood residents and staff provide hands-on classroom support to Pre-K to 8 grade classes in the three overburdened FBSD schools.

In addition, they collect and donate school uniforms, footwear, backpacks and school supplies at the beginning of every school year, handed out by classroom teachers as needed.

Last week, our Tools-4-Schools resident volunteers were featured on CBS 2 New York:

Thank you to Helen Coons, resident program coordinator, and volunteers Barbara Allen, Yvonne Clark, Dorothy Kreitzberg, Ginny McGall, and Joanne Jacoby. Joan Cinque, manager of resident services, has also done a wonderful job facilitating this program with the Freehold Borough schools.
